Time for a Count Down

Meg Cabot, the author of the Princess Diaries Series, has a book being released THIS MONTH. The Airhead trilogy is about a normal girl named Emerson Watts whose brain is placed in a super model’s body. Em has to try to live Nikki’s life. At first it seems being a supermodel can’t be that difficult, but it turn out to have more complications than Em could have ever imagined. The two books (Airhead and Being Nikki) are awesome. Cabot combines a strong main character with an unusual circumstance to create an incredible plot. I don’t want to tell much about what happens, because you should read these books! I couldn’t put them down. Meg Cabot is a wonderful writer. I can’t wait until April 20th, 2010 when the third book (Runaway) will be released.

Book Review: Tricks by Ellen Hopkins

is an excellent story, written in verse, about teens who are driven into prostitution. This book is a good example of a book being worse than my life. In order to eat, these teens sell their bodies and their souls. It gives the reader a new perspective on prostitution and desperation. Teenagers often have little or no control over their living situations. But there is help out there. If you need it, you have to let an adult you trust know.

Making Lemonade

The saying goes, “If life gives you lemons, make lemonade,” but what if you aren’t in the mood for lemonade? What if you are having a bad day with your boyfriend? What if you can’t do a thing with your hair? Some days you just don’t feel like trying to make the best of it. You just want to scream or curl up in your bed and cry.

What do you do when life isn’t treating you right? Do you try to make lemonade or find someone to throw lemons at? I have found a couple of things that help me sometimes. One is reading a good book. The characters in books always seem to have it worse than I do. Reading their stories helps me to put my life in perspective or just forget it for a little while. The other is exercise. Working out, whether it is aerobics, swimming, or a long walk seems to clear my head.

So even when you are having a bad day and feel like throwing all of those lemons at someone, try to remember tomorrow will come. If you find a friend to talk to, a book to read, or take a walk; maybe it will clear your head.

What is going on in your life? Are you having a great sunny day or another downpour? What do you need to make this a better day?

The Beginning

Everything must begin somewhere, so this is where I start. I am Caroline Rodeyn, an avatar from Second Life. My dream is to be a writer.

Today, I would like to be sending query letters to publishers, but my printer that has NEVER given me any trouble is now smudging the pages. Apparently, I have underrated my printer’s intelligence. It knows how important these documents are so it is smudging every page just a little.

Ah well, life must go on. Either I manage to clean the printer or I go out and pay someone to print for me.

Today, I write for myself. That is the way all writing begins, locked up in a room alone. But eventually, if you’re lucky, someone else will share in your writing. Tomorrow perhaps I will have followers to write for too. I write Young Adult fiction.

Are you are writer? Even if you are not published, do you consider yourself a writer? What do you write about?
